FAU Presents Biennial Art Faculty Exhibition
BOCA RATON, FL (Aug. 27, 2003) - Florida Atlantic University's University Galleries will present the 2003/2004 Biennial Art Faculty Exhibition from September 13 through October 11 in the Schmidt Center Gallery and the Ritter Art Gallery of the Boca Raton campus, 777 Glades Road. An opening reception for the exhibition will take place Friday, September 12 at 7 p.m. in each gallery. The reception and exhibition are free and open to the public.
Over 20 full-time, new and visiting faculty members in FAU's Department of Art will exhibit recently completed work in a wide range of media including painting, sculpture, photography and ceramics. Works of professors from the University's large graphic design program, the Center for Electronic Communication and the School of Architecture will also be represented through works.
Florida Atlantic University's distinguished faculty has been honored for their artistic excellence. Blane de St. Croix, Carol Prusa, and Tammy Knipp have won the prestigious South Florida Cultural Consortium's Visual Art Fellowship, a $15,000 grant awarded to artists in the five southeastern Florida counties. Carol Prusa was also awarded one of three 2003 Researcher of the Year awards presented by Florida Atlantic University, and Tammy Knipp was nominated for the 2003 Rockefeller Foundation New Media Fellowship, a national award presented by curators and exhibitors.
The 2003/2004 Biennial Art Faculty Exhibition is presented by the School of the Arts of the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters. The exhibition is a joint production of the University Galleries and the Department of Art. The exhibition and related programs have been made possible in part by the Division of Cultural Affairs, Florida Arts Council; Palm Beach County Cultural Council; and FAU Student Government.
The Schmidt Center Gallery and Ritter Art Gallery are open to the public Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from noon to 4 p.m.; Wednesday from noon to 6 p.m., and Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m... For further information, please call FAU's University Galleries at 561-297-2966 or visit www.fau.edu/galleries.
