FAU Gala Piano Concert to Feature Several Noted Pianists
BOCA RATON (July 22, 2003) -- Florida Atlantic University's Department of Music will present a spectacular four-piano event, "352 Keys! Gala Piano Concert," featuring performances by several noted concert pianists, on Saturday, August 2, at 7:30 p.m. in the University Theater of the Dorothy F. Schmidt Performing Arts Center, on the Boca Raton Campus, 777 Glades Road.
This fun-filled extravaganza will feature internationally acclaimed pianists Heather Coltman, Fedora Horowitz, Irena Kofman, Anne Louise-Turgeon, Edward Turgeon and others, performing exciting works for one, two, three and four pianos. The program will include Mozart's "Eine Kleine Nacht Musik," a fantasy on Rossini's "Barber of Seville" arranged by Alberti, several works from Gershwin, including "Summertime" from his opera "Porgy and Bess," Rimsky-Korsakov's scintillating "Flight of the Bumble Bee," and the patriotic classic "Stars and Stripes Forever!"
"352 Keys! Gala Piano Concert" is an annual hit in South Florida and the grand finale to FAU's six-week long Teaching Outstanding Performers (TOPS) summer camp for aspiring pianists. The gala concert is sponsored by Bobb's Pianos and Organs, Muzak Heart and Soul Foundation, Open University & Continuing Education and the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters. The proceeds from the gala concert will benefit FAU's keyboard studies scholarship program.
Concert tickets are $10. For tickets, call the FAU Box Office at 561-297-3737. Tickets will be available at the door two hours prior to performance. For more information, call the TOPS hotline at 561-297-3826.
