BOCA RATON, FL (June 9, 2003) -- Florida Atlantic University was ranked as one of the top colleges for graduating Hispanics in the 2003 edition of The Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education, a magazine published 26 times a year that focuses on higher education issues. FAU was ranked 47th on the list of four-year-colleges and universities that confer bachelor's degrees to Hispanic students. Overall, the state of Florida has ten colleges and universities ranked in the top 100 in the nation.
"FAU is proud of its diversity and gives high priority to recruiting and serving the Hispanic community. To be recognized for that, is an honor," said FAU President Frank Brogan. "We look forward to continuing our service to the Hispanic community and serving even more Hispanic students as they accomplish their lifelong goals."
The most recent data from the National Center for Education Statistics indicate more than 57,000 bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees were awarded to Hispanics by universities in the top 100 list. This represents an increase of 5,000 over the previous report two years earlier.
