FAU To Expand Research Park
BOCA RATON, FL (May 1, 2003) -- Florida Atlantic Universitys Board of Trustees unanimously voted to expand its research and development park into Deerfield Beach during a conference call meeting today, May 1, 2003.
The Deerfield Beach City Commission will vote tonight on the parks expansion into a 10-acre site near Interstate 95 in Deerfield Beach.
I cannot say enough about the hard work, commitment and dedication to research and economic development symbolized through the passage of this agreement, FAU President Frank Brogan. FAU is proud to be a part of this opportunity and commends Deerfield Beach for its vision regarding research.
This project culminates months of negotiations and consummates an agreement, which will provide research opportunities as well as broaden economic development for the city of Deerfield Beach, FAU and its Research & Development Authority.
FAUs Research & Development Authority, which will oversee the research park, will provide annual reports to FAU describing the nature of the research being conducted in the park. The Authority will also pay all of its own expenses and pay FAU $25,000 a year for the universitys research activities.
