BOCA RATON, FL (April 2, 2003) - Florida Atlantic University's Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters will receive a grant of nearly $60,000 from the Palm Beach County Cultural Council. This award is the largest of 10 made to mid-size cultural organizations in Palm Beach County. The grants were given to support nonprofit cultural groups that improve the quality of life for all residents of and visitors to Palm Beach County.
"The Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters would like to thank the Palm Beach County Cultural Council for this prestigious endorsement of our efforts to enrich the lives of our students and the South Florida community," said Schmidt College Dean William A. Covino. "The College is committed to increasing interdisciplinary programs for public audiences that combine art, theatre and music with our expertise in the humanities and social sciences. With our world-class faculty and artists-in-residence, we are poised for growth and pleased to have the support from the Cultural Council to pursue our goals," said Covino.
Applicants were judged according to cultural excellence, ability to attract and satisfy residents, and potential for growth.
