FAU Announces Lineup of Classic Summer Stock for
2003 Festival Repertory Theatre
BOCA RATON, FL (April 11, 2003) - Florida Atlantic University offers a chance to step back in time to the old days of summer theater with a lineup of classic American summer stock. This year's two-show rotating repertory includes Noel Coward's "Hay Fever" and Josh Logan and Oscar Hammerstein's "South Pacific." The series, which opens Friday, June 20 and closes Sunday, July 20, takes place in the Schmidt Performing Arts Center of FAU's Boca Raton campus. Ticket prices are $15 for one show and $25 for both. Group rates are available for parties of 20 or more.
"Hay Fever" is a delightful, easy-going play that tells the story of an eccentric English family, whose bad manners and Bohemian style meet British propriety in a weekend house party. Outrageous emotions and wild dramatizations enliven this stylish and sophisticated comedy.
"South Pacific," the timeless Broadway musical of romance on an island paradise, is considered by many to be one of the best musicals ever written. Rich in humor and eloquent in song, it features such enduring pieces as "Some Enchanted Evening," "Bali Ha'i," and "I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Outta my Hair."
