FAU DEDICATES HIBEL FINE ARTS COMPLEX
JUPITER, FL (Jan. 17, 2003) - Florida Atlantic University celebrated the dedication of the Hibel Fine Arts Complex on the John D. MacArthur Campus in Jupiter today. The complex, which includes the Hibel Museum of Art and Edna Hibel Fine Arts Building, is the result of a collaborative partnership between FAU and the Hibel Art Foundation.
"We are privileged to have the opportunity to merge Edna Hibel's vibrant legacy with the University's educational mission," said FAU Interim President Richard Osburn.
The buildings, encompassing more than 10,000 square feet, provide the MacArthur Campus with display areas for traveling exhibitions from a wide variety of art institutions, spaces for a collection of artwork by internationally renowned artist Edna Hibel, classrooms and academic offices. The facility serves as an art resource for FAU students and faculty, as well as the community.
Artist Edna Hibel, who assisted with the ceremonial ribbon cutting said, "We have all the elements in place for a successful partnership
a vibrant community, a growing campus and residents who are very much involved in the arts."
