FAU Selects Top Five Presidential Candidates
BOCA RATON, FL (Jan. 21, 2003) -- The pool of candidates for Florida Atlantic University's presidency was pared down today from 17 to five during a meeting
of the presidential search committee.
"We have been very lucky," said Dr. George C. Zoley, FAU Board of Trustees
chairman and chairman of the presidential search committee. "Many qualified individuals wanted the opportunity to lead a top Florida university. It was difficult narrowing the pool to the top five."
The candidates are:
" Frank Brogan - Brogan, Lieutenant Governor of Florida, is an FAU alumnus who earned a master of education in administration/supervision from the university.
" Stanley Eugene Fish - Fish, dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Illinois at Chicago, earned a Ph.D. from Yale.
" Thomas R. Hanley - Hanley is the dean of engineering and professor of chemical engineering at the University of Louisville in Kentucky. Hanley earned a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
" Gary S. Krahenbuhl - Krahenbuhl is the senior vice president of Arizona State University. He earned an Ed.D. from the University of Northern Colorado.
" Bruce Mallen - Mallen, dean of FAU's College of Business, earned a Ph.D. from New York University in business and business economics.
Starting on Thursday, Jan. 23, the candidates will be interviewed by the presidential search committee members.
