Exhibition Showcases Art Discovered Through Photographer’s Lens
JUPITER, FL (October 25, 2006) -Florida Atlantic University Libraries is presenting “Perception and Conception,” an exhibition by West Palm Beach freelance photographer Christopher Fay, at FAU’s MacArthur Campus Library through Tuesday, December 19. The exhibition is free and open to the public.
The exhibition showcases a collection of 20 photographs Fay shot while traveling in Greece, Venice, California and Florida. Among the photographs are people, landscape, animals and slices of Americana in various abstract and literal images.
“Recognizing beautiful art around you and constantly is a gift and skill that comes from viewing the world through the artist’s eye,’’ Fay said. “The trick is to develop the patience and imagination to recognize it.’’
Fay grew up in northern California and lived there until moving to West Palm Beach in 2002. When he was 8, his father converted the family bathroom into a darkroom, where he spent many hours in the dark with chemicals, watching images come to life. Fay has done high-end digital retouching for large corporate and advertising agency accounts, worked as an on-air announcer, as a studio recording engineer and as an interior designer.
MacArthur Campus Library’s exhibition program is in its second year. The program’s exhibition committee chair, Diane Arrieta, said she is excited about Fay’s exhibition as well as others on this year’s schedule.
“We have made progress as far as reaching more artists and developing more community awareness of the program,’’ she said.
