BOCA RATON, FL(September 1, 2006) – Florida Atlantic University President Frank T. Brogan recently was appointed to the 2006-07 Sun Belt Conference Executive Committee as its at-large representative. The Sun Belt Conference is a college athletic conference that has been affiliated with the NCAA’s Division I since 1976.
“It is an honor and a privilege to officially be a part of the Sun Belt Conference Executive Committee,” said Brogan. “I look forward to working with the other members of the committee during what will undoubtedly be an exciting year in FAU athletics.”
As part of the eight-person committee, Brogan’s shared responsibilities will include oversight, recommendations and strategic guidance concerning all major initiatives, including those related to the rules and regulations involving the conference office and its member schools. The committee is also responsible for the approval and oversight of the conference’s annual budget.
Brogan was nominated by the chief executive officers of the Sun Belt Conference and was approved by the 2005-06 executive committee. Others members of the committee include Dr. Sidney McPhee, president of Middle Tennessee State University, as president; Dr. Ray Authement, president of Louisiana-Lafayette University, as vice president; Dr. Gary Ransdell, president of Western Kentucky University, as past president; Dr. Timothy Ryan, chancellor of New Orleans University, as treasurer; Rick Villarreal of North Texas University as chair of athletics directors; Dr. Wayne Andrepont of Louisiana-Lafayette University as chair of faculty athletics representatives; and Melanie Richardson of Arkansas State University as chair of senior woman administrators.
