FAU’s Summer Productions Get Rave Reviews
BOCA RATON, FL (July 12, 2006) – Florida Atlantic University’s summer productions of “Oklahoma!” and “A Streetcar Named Desire” are getting positive reviews from audiences and critics with many performances selling out. Performances of the two plays run through Sunday, July 23 on FAU’s Boca Raton campus. The third production in the summer repertory, “Musical Revue: An American Songbook – Cole Porter,” will run Friday, July 28 through Sunday, July 30 on the Boca Raton campus and Saturday, August 5 on FAU’s Jupiter campus.
A Director’s reception for the 2006 Festival Rep was held prior to the June 30 performance of “Oklahoma!” in the Dorothy F. Schmidt Performing Arts Center on the Boca Raton campus. Among those present were Madelyn Savarick, a Festival Rep sponsor and FAU School of the Arts advisory board member; and Ron Frontiero, general manager at Ed Morse Delray Toyota/Scion, a 2006 Festival Rep sponsor. Attendees of the July 4 performance of “Oklahoma!” also received a special treat when the play featured cameo appearances by Boca Raton Mayor Steve Abrams, as well as FAU President Frank T. Brogan, his wife Courtney and their son Colby.
