FAU Names Pamela Peterson Drake Director of the Barry Kaye School of Finance, Insurance and Economics

            BOCA RATON, FL (June 15, 2006) - Florida Atlantic University named Dr. Pamela Peterson Drake director of the Barry Kaye School of Finance, Insurance and Economics in the College of Business.  In her new role, Peterson Drake will oversee the development of traditional undergraduate and graduate degree programs, as well as the Barry Kaye Institute of Insurance in Philanthropy and an annual lecture series focusing on various topics related to insurance and philanthropy.

The establishment of the new school was made possible by a generous gift in June 2005 in the amount of $5 million from radio and television personality Barry Kaye, who has been identified as the #1 insurance salesman in the country.  

“We are very pleased to have Dr. Peterson Drake lead the efforts for this significant step in the continued growth of FAU’s College of Business,” said J. Dennis Coates, dean of FAU’s College of Business.  “Her experience and academic credentials position her perfectly to lead the Barry Kaye School of Finance, Insurance and Economics, the College of Business and FAU to national prominence.”

Peterson Drake, Ph.D., CFA is an associate dean within the College of Business and professor of finance at FAU.  She teaches financial management and investments, both online and in the classroom.  Peterson Drake received her Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and taught at Florida State University from 1981 - 2004.

Peterson Drake is an author and co-author of a number of books, including Analysis of Financial Statements and Financial Management and Analysis, both authored with Frank Fabozzi, and Real Options, authored in conjunction with Don Chance.  Peterson Drake has published a number of articles in academic and practitioner journals.
