Public Invited to FAU’s Spring BFA Art Exhibition

            BOCA RATON, FL (April 2, 2008) – The department of visual arts and art history in Florida Atlantic University's Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters will have an opening reception for the spring Bachelor of Fine Arts exhibition, Peripherial Vision, on Thursday, April 17 at 7 p.m. in the Ritter Gallery on FAU’s Boca Raton campus, 777 Glades Road.  The show, featuring the works of 23 graduating artists receiving their Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees in studio art and graphic design, will take place from Friday, April 18 through Saturday, May 3.  The reception and exhibition are free and open to the public.

            The BFA exhibition features a diverse variety of works in two dimensional and three dimensional format. All exhibiting artists will be present at the opening of the exhibition to discuss and answer questions about the works being presented. 

            There will also be an opening for the spring Master of Fine Arts exhibition, featuring the works of students receiving their Master of Fine Arts degrees, on that same evening at 6 p.m. in the Schmidt Center Gallery.  The MFA exhibition runs Friday, April 18 through Saturday, June 7.

            The spring BFA Art Exhibition is sponsored by Whole Foods and Publix.  University Galleries programs are made possible in part through support from The State of Florida Department of State Division of Cultural Affairs, Florida Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts; Palm Beach County Cultural Council; R.A. Ritter Foundation; FAU Student Government through student activity fees; and individual friends of the University Galleries.

            The University Galleries are open Tuesday through Friday, 1 to 4 p.m.,; Saturdays, 1 to 5 p.m.; and closed Sunday and Monday. Adult groups, public school field trips and university classes are welcome at alternative hours by appointment. Guided tours for groups are also available by appointment.
