FAU University Club Fund-Raiser Benefits FAU Libraries and Scholarship Programs
BOCA RATON, FL (April 14, 2006) - The University Club of the Florida Atlantic University Foundation hosted its annual fundraiser to benefit the FAU Libraries and scholarship endowments. The event was titled “New York! New York!” and it brought more than 100 people to the Royal Fiesta Ballroom in Deerfield Beach. Serving as the event’s honorary chair was Bess Myerson, consumer advocate, former commissioner of cultural affairs, classically trained musician and “Miss America” of 1945. University Club Second Vice President Gay Garlid chaired the evening with co-chairs University Club President Alene Brewer and University Club board member Regina Vetto.
After a cocktail and hors d’oeuvres hour and dinner, performers Tony Mariano and Barbara Noel provided musical entertainment with a repertoire that included popular Big Band era standards, Broadway show tunes and contemporary hits. Silent and live auctions were also held.
