FAU Presents Spring Fine Arts Shows
BOCA RATON, FL (April 6, 2006) – Florida Atlantic University’s Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters’ Department of Visual Arts and Art History announces the opening of the Spring Master of Fine Arts (MFA) Show and the Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) Show on Thursday, April 20. The MFA opening will occur between 6 - 8 p.m. in the Schmidt Gallery, and the exhibition will run through Friday, May 26. The BFA opening will occur between 7 - 9 p.m. in the Ritter Gallery, and the exhibition will run through Friday, May 5. Both galleries are on FAU’s Boca Raton campus, 777 Glades Road. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday, 1 to 4 p.m., and Saturday 1 to 5 p.m. Both the receptions and exhibitions are free and open to the public.
The MFA exhibition presents the works of four graduate students: Brenda McCabe, who works in mixed media; Nancy Deutscher and Diana Jaffe, who work in painting; and Brian Somerville, who works in ceramics. The BFA exhibition presents the works of 29 graduating seniors receiving their bachelor of fine arts degrees in studio art and graphic design. Featured artwork is executed in painting, photography, sculpture, ceramics and graphic arts. All exhibiting artists will be in attendance at each reception to discuss and answer questions about their creative works.
