JUPITER, FL (March 20, 2007) – In commemoration of the anniversary of the War in Iraq, the MacArthur College Democrats at Florida Atlantic University’s Jupiter campus have placed 3,500 red marker flags on the campus grounds, signifying one flag for each fallen U.S. soldier. In addition, a display in the SR Atrium highlights the number of U.S. and civilian casualties of war.
“I feel like no one is talking about the war in public places anymore,” said David Martin, president of the club. “A college campus is one of the best places to have this discussion.”
FAU’s MacArthur College Democrats created this display to encourage conversation about citizens’ roles concerning the War in Iraq. The flags and the exhibit in the SR Atrium will remain throughout the current week.
Florida Atlantic University’s MacArthur Campus is located at 5353 Parkside Drive, Jupiter. For more information on this event, call David Martin at 321-480-4634.
