FAU Hosts Andrew Weil, M.D.

Acclaimed Author, World-Renowned Leader and Pioneer in the Field of Integrative Medicine, and Expert on Healthy Living

            BOCA RATON, FL (March 15, 2006) - Florida Atlantic University’s Memory and Wellness Center, in partnership with Hospice of Palm Beach County, will host Andrew Weil, M.D., best selling author and expert on health and wellness.  He has earned an international reputation as an expert on integrative medicine, mind body interaction and medical botany.  Dr. Weil will present a public lecture on Friday, April 28 from 9:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. in the Carole and Barry Kaye Performing Arts Auditorium, located in the University Center on FAU’s Boca Raton campus, 777 Glades Road.

            Tickets for the event may be purchased now by calling 800-564-9539 or by visiting www.fauevents.com.  Preferred seating tickets are available at a cost of $50, general seating tickets are available for $35 and students may obtain tickets for $25.

            Dr. Weil has devoted the past 30 years to developing, practicing and teaching integrative medicine.  He combines a Harvard education and a lifetime of practicing natural and preventive medicine to promote a healthcare system that encompasses body, mind and spirit.  Dr. Weil is a “New York Times” best selling author with more than 5 million copies in print, including Spontaneous Healing, 8 Weeks to Optimum Health, Eating Well for Optimum Health and The Healthy Kitchen, and his newest best-seller,Healthy Aging: A Lifelong Guide to Your Physical and Spiritual Well-Being.Dr. Weil is a frequent guest on Larry King Live, The Today Show and Oprah.  In addition, he has hosted a number of television specials on PBS. 

            Dr. Weil is the founder and director of the Program in Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona, where he also serves as a professor of medicine.  Dr. Weil received both his medical degree and undergraduate AB degree in biology (botany) from Harvard University.
