Robin Fiore Named to Women’s Bioethics Project Advisory Board
BOCA RATON, FL (March 9, 2006) – Florida Atlantic University recently announced that Robin N. Fiore, Adelaide Snyder Professor of Ethics and associate professor of philosophy, has been named to the advisory board of the Women’s Bioethics Project, an independent, nonpartisan, public-policy think tank based in Seattle. Fiore joins some of the most prestigious and respected leaders in the fields of bioethics, medicine and reproductive rights. Their role is to provide guidance and strategic direction to the Project in its mission to serve as a bridge between scholarship and policy-making, ensuring that women’s voices, health concerns and unique life experiences are brought to bear on ethical issues in health care and biotechnology.
“The Women’s Bioethics Project plays an important role in raising the awareness of women’s issues in ethics discussions,” said William A. Covino, dean of the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters. “Robin’s experience as Special Assistant to the Dean for Ethics Initiatives at FAU and her work at the annual Florida Bioethics Network Conference and elsewhere makes her well suited to be a part of the Project.”
