FAU Libraries Presents “Go Down Moses: Klezmer, Blues,
Blacks, and Jews,” a Multicultural Musical and Narrative Event
PORT ST. LUCIE, FL (March 1, 2006) – Florida Atlantic University Libraries presents “Go Down Moses: Klezmer, Blues, Blacks and Jews,” a multicultural musical and narrative event, on Tuesday, April 4, 2006 at 3 p.m. in Tradition’s Town Hall. The presentation explores the special relationship between African Americans and American Jews through words and music. This unique collaboration features Kitty Oliver, singer, author and oral historian; Aaron Kula, FAU Libraries’ director of music collections; and a quartet from the Klezmer Company Orchestra, FAU Libraries’ professional ensemble-in-residence.
The event is funded by the “Bess Myerson Music Education and Performance Fund,” which supports and broadens the use of the Libraries’ extensive music collections by cultivating audiences through a wide range of educational outreach programs and performances.
