Award-winning journalist and ocean activist David Helvarg, president of the Blue Frontier Campaign, will speak on “The Seaweed Rebellion.” He is the author of three books: Blue Frontier – Dispatches from America’s Ocean Wilderness, The War Against the Greens and 50 Ways to Save the Ocean, and has produced more than 40 broadcast documentaries for PBS and the Discovery Channel. Helvarg will share his vast knowledge of our oceans and will explain how our daily actions affect the seas around us. Copiesof the book will be sold by the FAU bookstore. This lecture is sponsored by the Scripps Howard Foundation and coordinated by FAU’s School of Communication & Multimedia Studies, and Center for Environmental Studies.
