FAU Announces Schedule for Summer Music Camps
BOCA RATON, FL (February 24, 2006) – Florida Atlantic University announced the summer camp schedule for their Teaching Outstanding PerformerS (TOPS) music camps. All camps take place at FAU’s Boca Raton campus, located at 777 Glades Road. Camps run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and the specifics for each camp follows:
June 12-17: Choral camp for grades 9-12. The camp provides instruction to students in the areas of sight-singing and ear-training, theory, music appreciation, vocal techniques and choral music. Individual private voice instruction is available at an additional cost. Master classes and social activities are scheduled throughout the week. Overnight camping is available. Tuition for day camp: $250. Application fee: $10.
June 19-30: Piano camp for grades 6-12. Extended two-week camp. Students have exposure to world-class teaching and performing, and gain an appreciation for the world of classical music and art forms. Daily activities include private lessons, technique classes, music appreciation and history classes, creative writing classes, entertainment and recreation. Tuition: $250 per week. Application fee: $10.
June 19-23: Woodwind camp for grades 6-12. The Florida Woodwind Quintet directs this camp that includes private instruction, master classes, ensembles and reed making classes, entertainment and recreation. Tuition: $250. Application fee: $10.
July 10-14: Piano camp for grades K-5. Students have exposure to world-class teaching and performing, and gain an appreciation for the world of classical music and art forms. Daily activities include private lessons, technique classes, master classes, music appreciation and history classes, entertainment and recreation. Tuition: $250. Application fee: $10.
July 17-21: Piano camp for grades K-5. Students have exposure to inspiring teaching and performing, and gain an appreciation for the world of classical music and art forms. Daily activities include private lessons, technique classes, master classes, music appreciation and history classes, entertainment and recreation. Tuition: $250. Application fee: $10.
A placement audition is required for piano camp. Auditions will be set up on a first come, first served basis. Scholarships are available for piano students.
