Bio-Materials Research at the Nanoscale
WHAT: Florida Atlantic University’s Charles E. Schmidt College of Science presents the seventh lecture of its Spring 2006 series – “Bio-Materials Research at the Nanoscale.”
WHEN: Thursday, March 2, 2006
3:30 p.m.
WHERE: FAU Boca Raton Campus

COST: Free and open to the public
CONTACT NUMBER: Patsy Jones – 561-297-1307
DESCRIPTION: Biomaterials research has progressed over the past several hundred years to developing intentionally bioactive materials that can either be used for multiple functions or that disappear after their usefulness has passed. Material scientists that now are able to manipulate materials at atomic and molecular scales – the nanoscale – have much to do with this increased functionality. During this lecture, Dr. Korey Sorge, assistant professor of physics at Florida Atlantic University, will present some types of biomaterials, problems and concerns with the development of new systems, and how nanoscale materials science will contribute to the future of biomaterials research.
