FAU in Jupiter Brings LUNAFEST™ Film Festival
to Palm Beach County
JUPITER, FL (February 10, 2006) – LUNAFEST™, the only national touring festival of films by, for and about women, will make its Palm Beach County debut on Friday, February 24 beginning at 7 p.m. in the A.D. Auditorium on Florida Atlantic University’s John D. MacArthur Campus, 5353 Parkside Drive, Jupiter. LUNA®, the whole nutrition bar for women™, created LUNAFEST™ to raise awareness about women's issues, highlight women filmmakers, bring women together in their communities and raise money for the Breast Cancer Fund.
LUNAFEST™ is a special evening where women and their friends gather to view an exceptional selection of short, diverse films. The films range from documentaries to animated short films and cover topics such as women’s health, body image, sexuality, spirituality, cultural diversity and the environment.
Sponsored locally by FAU, W2O water for women and Nutrition S'Mart, proceeds from the Palm Beach County LUNAFEST™ will benefit the Breast Cancer Fund, FAU’s Feminist Student Union and FAU Scholarships.
“This is the first time that LUNAFEST™ has taken place in our area, and we are excited to be a part of this inspiring event,” said Debby Swoboda-Mayhew, director of marketing for Nutrition S’Mart. “We are all about wellness and encouragement in the natural products industry and this is a great way to celebrate in a girls-night-out venue.”
LUNAFEST™ provides a national platform for emerging women filmmakers to share their stories. The program will include eight winning films selected from more than 200 submissions that made their way through a multi-stage process.
