Dr. Lawrence F. Davenport has been named executive vice president of university advancement, permanently assuming leadership of a division he has headed on an interim basis since August.
In announcing the appointment, President Brogan said, "Dr. Davenport's understanding of the University and proven track record of working with our community to attract new donors and strengthen the relationships with current supporters have helped us continue our upward fundraising trend."
"The president has offered me a tremendous opportunity with this position, and I truly look forward to leading FAU's advancement team," Davenport said. "I'm sure that the University's best days are within reach."
Davenport came to FAU more than two years ago as executive vice president and chief operating officer. During his long career in public service, Davenport has been executive director of Harlem's Hale House, deputy chief administrative officer for the U.S. House of Representatives, assistant secretary of the U.S. Department of Education, vice president of finance and operations at the Milton Hershey School and chief financial officer of the Seattle Public School System.
