More than 70 Treasure Coast campus students from the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing attended a recent luncheon themed “A Dialogue with the Dean.” Traditional BSN, RN-BSN and family nurse practitioner graduate students talked with Dean Anne Boykin, who noted that she is more passionate about nursing today than when she began her career. Dr. Boykin stressed that in today’s workplace environment, with many RNs leaving their positions, the college’s guiding philosophy of nursing as caring truly motivates nurses to feel rejuvenated and stay in the profession. She also shared her research on integrating the caring approach into hospital practice settings.
Another Nursing Note:
At the Florida Nursing Students’ Association convention in Daytona Beach, Terry Dinovi and Jillian Molinari -- juniors in the Treasure Coast campus' traditional BSN program -- were elected to the board. They will serve for one year.
The Treasure Coast campus Heart Walk team raised $1,703 to rank seventh among all teams. Olga Kay, assistant University registrar and team captain, raised $1,152, claiming fifth place among individuals. FAU faculty, staff and friends joined in the walk, which was held Nov. 4 at the Town of Tradition in Port St. Lucie.
