Mr. Willis founded Michael Willis Architects in 1988. His urban, housing, infrastructure and interior architecture firm located in San Francisco, Oakland, Portland and Detroit has built a national reputation with its experience on large public projects. His goal is to create buildings that are good neighbors in any community while providing a safe, efficient, and humane environment for its occupants. Throughout his career he has been recognized by professional awards and publications of his work he is a graduate of Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri, with a Bachelor’s Degree in 1973; and as a member of the Combined Degree graduate program, a Master of Architecture in 1976; and a Master of Social Work in 1976. He is a Distinguished Alumni of the Architecture School (1996), a Distinguished Alumni of the George Warren Brown School of Social Work (2008) and a holder of a National Black Achievement award of the Black Alumni Council (1996).
