Fitness Instructor Training Courses
Explore the world of fitness instruction by signing up for one of our fitness training courses today! Upon successful completion of each course, you will earn our in-house certification and be eligible to become a member of FAU Campus Recreation’s elite team of fitness professionals. Each course includes approximately 9 - 11 weeks of written and practical instruction and study materials.
Group Fitness Instructor Training Course
This course is offered for anyone interested in becoming a group fitness instructor. Learn the fundamentals of teaching various group exercise classes including: hi/lo, step, kickboxing, yoga, Pilates, and more. This course will give you the written and practical knowledge to become a great leader in group exercise and will better prepare you to become a nationally certified instructor. The course will meet twice per week - one day devoted to lecture, and one day devoted to practical instruction. The material to be covered includes: basic anatomy and exercise physiology, nutritional considerations, flexibility concepts, and training concepts specific to various formats of group exercise.

Personal Trainer Preparation Course
This course is designed to give you the knowledge and hands-on experience that will enable you to become a leader in the fitness field. Students who complete the course will be better prepared to successfully sit for a nationally accredited certification. The Personal Trainer Prep Course is not designed to serve as a sole means of studying for a certification - it is meant to be a supplement. The lecture-based classes will cover topics such as basic and functional anatomy, exercise physiology, program design principles, form and technique instruction, client interaction, and more. The practical classes will apply concepts covered in the lecture and serve to prepare students to work one-on-one with clients.
