Scholarships

Application Process

StudentScholarships are given out once a year for the fall and spring semesters. It is important that you submit your admissions application and all required admissions documents before applying for a scholarship. Scholarship applications will be reviewed following acceptance. Students are awarded scholarships based on academic criteria and/or need.  Ask for any needed recommendations early!

Types of Scholarships

There are two main groups of scholarships:

In addition, FAU has developed a comprehensive Scholarship Booklet that lists scholarships specific to each FAU college, as well as other transfer and general scholarships available.

Tuition Fee Waiver (Out-of-State and International Students)

Students attending the Broward Campuses who do not meet Florida Residency requirements (non-residents) may qualify for a Fee Waiver to register for a certain number of credits at the in-state fee. For more information about the Fee Waiver, contact the Davie campus Admissions Office.

Broward Specific Scholarships

  • Broward Challenge Grant (Application form - Pdf file): The Challenge Grant is a need based scholarship that provides relief for students who do not meet the financial requirements for Pell Grant and other federal grants. The Challenge Grant is designed to help the student close this gap. Applicants must have completed a FAFSA, be in good academic standing, and enrolled for at least 50% of their credit hours on a Broward campus. Awards are open to both undergraduate and graduate. International students are also eligible. Awards range from $500 to $750 awarded in Fall and Spring semesters only. Application Deadline: Last day Add/Drop period for the current semester.

  • Broward Vision Scholarship (Application form - Pdf file): The Broward Vision Scholarship offers scholarships to both current and incoming undergraduate students. Awards are on merit and demonstrated financial need (see application). Applicants must have completed a FAFSA, be in good academic standing with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference will be given to students enrolled for at least 50% of their credit hours on a Broward campus. Awards are prorated based on enrolled credit hrs. Maximum award $2,000 per academic year. Application Deadline: May 1st for priority consideration.

  • The Hundred Club of Broward County, Inc. Scholarship Fund (Application form - Pdf file): The Hundred Club of Broward County, Inc. established a scholarship to assist in paying for the educational-related expenses of full-time and part-time degree seeking students making satisfactory academic progress by maintaining a minimum grade point average of 2.0 while enrolled at FAU. Recipients must be dependent spouses and children of law enforcement officers/firefighters/peace officers who while in the employ of the political Subdivision of Broward County, or while in the employ of any other political subdivision of the State of Florida, located in Broward County, Florida, or while in the employ within the geographical limits of Broward County, or while acting officially with proper authority for other persons or organizations located in Broward County, Florida, have lost their lives in the line of duty; dependent spouses and children of persons who, though not members of the classes of persons described previously, have lost their lives as a result of their activities in defending, protecting or assisting any of the said persons in the performance of their duties and any of the previously described persons and their dependent spouses and children, who has been adjudged permanently disabled by reason of injuries sustained while acting in the line of duty or while defending, protecting or assisting any members of said classes in the performance of their duties. Recipients may also be the dependent, spouse or child of a living able bodied Broward County law enforcement officer/firefighter/peace officer or dependent spouse and child of a Veteran killed in the line of duty.
