October 23 to November 2, 2009, "site: downtown"
Student work from the undergraduate courses titled “Narrative Drawing” and “Alternative Media” will be displayed in this exhibition. Artwork includes: 36 small “mole” sketchbooks documenting old downtown Fort Lauderdale using a variety of materials, video, sound loop, group mural, small paintings, printed handouts, and photo collections. From the School of Architecture curators Henning Haupt and Vladimir Kulic select the best student work from the 2008-2009 academic year.
August 5 to August 19, 2009, "Clay: Two Dimensions"
Ceramic artists Sandi Lent and Joan Carew showcase their most recent work. From Sandi: abstracted clay forms and derived from these "stones," large format photos. From Joan: humorous representational figurative forms. Both artists offer the viewer endless opportunities to compare and contrast styles.
July 21 to August 3, 2009, "Margins"
Liliana Crespi sculpts large organic forms of crocheted wire and handmade paper. Mai Rozelli, in multi-media, explores the clash of culture and tradition in today's life. Together these two artist's provide a compelling forum of old versus new. Opening reception: Tuesday, July 21, 2009.
