Programs & Initiatives
Center of Excellence in Ocean Energy Technology A synergistic partnership among academia, industry and government laboratories combining expertise in ocean engineering and science, fabrication and testing, utilizing the South Florida Testing Facility range to foster the research, design, development, implementation, testing, and commercialization of cutting-edge ocean energy technologies that are cost-competitive with existing fossil-fuel-based power generation. Ocean current, thermal, wave, and tidal-based energy are focus areas for development as renewable power sources.
Florida Atlantic Planning Society Student organization committed to helping clean up local waterways.
Florida Center for Environmental Studies Represents the ten state universities, including FAU, and four major, private universities. The center serves as a facilitator and coordinator of research and training related to the environment and as a locus for environmental information. Grounding its activities in the Florida sub-tropical environment, the center’s mandate also encompasses global tropical and sub-tropical environments as well as issues related to freshwater and estuarine ecosystems worldwide.
