Dr. Joyanne Stephens serves as the Vice President for Florida Atlantic University’s Broward Campuses. Dr. Stephens joined FAU in 1989 as Special Assistant to the Broward Provost with primary responsibility for the development of the FAU Davie Campus. She has also served as the first Assistant Dean of FAU’s College of Liberal Arts, and Associate Vice President of the Davie Campus.
In 2001, Dr. Stephens was named Vice President of the Broward Campuses. During her tenure at FAU, she has presided over FAU’s expansion in Broward County that has included the growth of students enrolled in Broward programs from 1,000 in 1990 to over 6,000 in 2007, the construction of 500,000 sq. ft. of additional classroom, research and offices, and a resident Broward faculty and staff that now totals over 600.
Dr. Stephens has served on the Board of Directors for Planned Parenthood, the Davie-Cooper City Chamber of Commerce, and the Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce. Currently, she serves on the Broward Workforce Development Council, the Coordinating Council of Broward County, and the Broward Alliance Board of Directors. She is a member of Leadership Broward and the Executive Association of Fort Lauderdale.
Dr. Stephens is a sociologist who received her Ph.D. from the University of Kentucky.
