Dr. Rajendra P. Gupta of Fort Lauderdale is a highly respected physician who has had an internal medicine and gastroenterology practice in Plantation for 25 years. Long active in public service, he served on the board of the statewide Council for Education Policy Research and Improvement before being named to FAU's Board of Trustees. Dr. Gupta also is a member of the Broward County Drug and Rehabilitation Council and the Broward County HIV Council, and he is a volunteer physician at the Broward County Salvation Army Homeless Clinic. He is founding president of the Indian Physicians Association of South Florida, and from 1998 to 2000 he was regional director of the Association of American Physicians of Indian Origin. After helping to found the South Florida Hindu Temple, he served the congregation as president, chair of the governing board and chair of the fundraising committee. Dr. Gupta is a graduate of Sawai Man Singh Medical College in Jaipur , India . He completed his post-graduate training at the University of Maryland and his fellowship in gastroenterology at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh , Pennsylvania . Dr. Gupta is a member of the Broward County Medical Association, the Florida Medical Association and the American Medical Association.
