Florida Atlantic University’s Chamber Soloists will present two concerts titled “A Dvorak Festival,” featuring pianists Judith Burganger and Leonid Treer along with the Delray String Quartet. The first concert will be held on Saturday, November 7 at 3 p.m. in the Liberal Arts Auditorium on FAU’s Davie Campus, 2912 College Avenue.  The second concert will take place on Sunday, November 8 at 3 p.m. in the University Theatre on FAU’s Boca Raton campus, 777 Glades Road. Admission is free with a suggested donation of $10.

The concerts will include the Antonin Dvorak compositions “Andante” from the Piano Suite Op. 98; “Quartet in E flat Major, Op. 87” for violin, viola, violoncello and piano; and  “Quintet in A Major, Op. 81” for two violins, viola, violoncello and piano.

Leonid Treer is the artistic director and pianist for the Chamber Soloists. Treer, who was born in the former Soviet Union, has performed throughout the former USSR, Europe, Israel, the United States, Australia and the People’s Republic of China as a soloist chamber musician.  Judith Burganger started playing piano at the age of six and has played many of the world’s leading concert halls since then. She has an extraordinary history as a concert pianist, winning an array of first place awards in major international piano competitions.

The Delray String Quartet is composed of Mei Mei Luo and Laszlo Pap, violin; Richard Fleischman, viola; and Claudio Jaffe, violoncello. Luo, originally from China, earned her bachelor's degree from the Shanghai and Shenyang conservatory of music. She is recognized as one of South Florida's finest violinists. Born and trained in Hungary, Pap received his early musical education at the Bartok Conservatory and at the prestigious Franz Liszt Academy in Budapest. He has served as concertmaster for the Palm Beach Opera and the Palm Beach Pops. Fleischman has received numerous honors, most notably the Windsor Prize, personally awarded to him by Leonard Bernstein. Jaffé made his orchestral debut at the age of 11 in his native Brazil. He won first place in the Villa-Lobos International Cello Competition and was a prizewinner of numerous competitions.

This event is sponsored by FAU’s School of the Arts in the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters. For more information on these or any other music performances at FAU, call 561-297-3820 or visit www.fau.edu/music.
