Congratulations on your acceptance to Florida Atlantic University!
Now that you are apart of the FAU family, take time to review the following list of requirements for new students. There are a few tasks you must complete in order to finalize the acceptance process before you can register for classes. You may want to print the following checklist:: Please check the information in your acceptance letter for accuracy and contact us immediately if changes are necessary. Acceptance is only for the term specified. If your plans change, or if you wish to be reconsidered for another term, send us written notification. Pay particular attention to your name, address, term of entrance and residency status.
Admission Your tentative acceptance to FAU is based on your academic information at the time your file is reviewed by the Office of Admissions. It is in your best interest to submit final transcripts to the Office of Admissions before you register for classes at FAU in order to avoid any registration holds on your record. Applicants are expected to maintain the academic quality which granted them admission to FAU, as these completed transcripts will be a part of the final admission decision. Your admission to FAU is specified for a certain semester and you must enroll during that term. If you wish to change your entry term, simply make your request in writing or on-line at UGAdmissions@fau.edu. Your application and fee are good for one year from your initial term of application. If you would like to make any changes regarding your admission, please submit the corresponding form from the list below:
Residency In the bottom left hand corner of your acceptance letter it states your classification as a Florida resident or a non-Florida resident. If you would like to have your status reconsidered, you will need to submit a Residency classification form. This sheet, along with full documentation, must be submitted at least two weeks prior to the start of classes.
MyFAU Login Info MyFAU is a web-based communication tool that provides FAU students with centralized access to world-class intranet services though a secure site. A single user name enables you to obtain access to a gateway of online services such as e-mail, e-calendars and helpful classroom resources. This invaluable resource also allows you to register for courses, search the course catalog, and view your grades. Best of all, MyFAU pages are customizable to suit your personal needs.
To find your login ID and password/PIN, log onto MyFAU (http://myfau.fau.edu). Then click on “look up username”. You will need to enter your social security number and your PIN (“00” followed by the two digit date and two digit year of your birth). For example, if you were born on January 1, 1978, your PIN would be 000178.
New Student Orientation The orientation program is designed to make your transition into FAU as smooth as possible. At orientation you will have the opportunity to meet with other students, faculty and staff. You will tour the campus, learn more about academic policies and discover the numerous programs and organizations available at FAU. Attending orientation is mandatory for all incoming students prior to registering for classes, with the exception of those seeking a second bachelors’ degree. In addition to orientation, students are encouraged to attend “Weeks of Welcome.” These programs — held in the beginning of the fall semester — are designed to acquaint you with the unique opportunities available on our campus. Freshman Orientation (and transfers with fewer than 30 credit hours): You will receive a postcard in the mail detailing how to make an online reservation for Orientation. You may also go directly to http://www.fau.edu/orientation to view dates, times and make your reservation. An Orientation confirmation letter will be sent via your FAU email account. As a new freshman student you will advised and registered through OARS, the freshman online advising and registration system. Further details regarding this process will be sent to you from the office of Freshman Academic Advising Services. To contact freshman advising directly, please go to freshmanadvising@fau.edu. Transfer Orientation (for students with 30+ credit hours): Information on the dates, times and locations for transfer orientation will be mailed to you prior to your term of entry. You must attend an orientation session on the campus in which you intend to take the majority of your coursework. Transfer students may opt to participate in the virtual orientation in lieu of attending the on-campus program. This is an excellent option for those students who want to register early. For more information about FAU’s New Student Orientation programs, please call (561)297.2733 or e-mail orientme@fau.edu.
