Freshman Learning Community (FLC) is a group of students (usually about 22) with similar majors and/or interests in the same courses. Students can be commuters or residential students.
AND
Living Learning Community (LLC) participants live on the same floor in Heritage Park Towers in addition to taking some common courses together.
As part of either kind of Learning Community, students…
- Get to know a small group of classmates quickly.
- Learn to study together, collaborate on projects and depend on each other for additional support in the classroom.
- Receive support in the classroom and learn how to access academic assistance that is available across campus.
- Become comfortable using the library, using their e-mail account, and other FAU resources.
- Decide whether the major you are considering is right for you or learn about major options and areas of interest.
- Earn better grades!
Most importantly, Students enrolled in Learning Communities are more likely to stay at FAU and graduate.
